National Federation of Service Industries

National Federation of Service Industries (NHO Service) is an organisation supporting service companies in Norway. The association has 1.187 member companies employing 56.000 people inn 2009.

The National Federation of Service Industries (NHO Service) is affiliated with the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO). NHO Service is the third largest sectoral federation in the NHO. NHO Service organises companies within the field of staffing and recruitment, cleaning, security and guard services, canteens, catering and other forms of food service, hospital hotels, nursing homes, as well as other health and care services, occupational health services, ambulances, vocational rehabilitation enterprises, property management as well as several other types of service-related activities.

Tasks
The most important tasks for the NHO Service include industrial affairs, labour market and employment policies and business sector development. Often, the NHO Service serves as a gathering point and as a spokesperson vis-à-vis politicians, the general public, the Government services and the media. Our most important task is to  provide services to our members: Examples of the services we offer include: legal services, services related to health, safety and the environment (HSE), conferences, seminars, breakfast meetings and member magazines,  websites, digital newsletters and other types of information. Examples of the NHO Service’s contributions with regard to business sector development are the educational scheme Dialogue and Clean Development for the cleaning industry, as well as the schemes SafeGuard and the Norwegian Security Guard Academy for the security guard industry.

Objective
Our objective is to safeguard the common interests of our member companies and strive to provide our members with better framework and working conditions. The NHO Service shall contribute to market expansion for our members, contribute to improved competitiveness and profitability The NHO Service shall contribute to increased professionalism and serve to demonstrate our member companies’ usefulness to society, their value creation and their ability to create secure jobs.

Organisation:
The Federation was established in 1989, and has since grown to include 29 employees in 2010. The majority of the NHO Service’s sectoral groups have their own boards or sectoral committees which again are governed by the NHO Service’s Central Board and Executive Committee. Furthermore, the NHO Service is represented on NHO’s Central Board and Executive Committee. The NHO Service is located at Næringslivets Hus, Middelthunsgt 27, 3. floor at Majorstua in Oslo.
